The GALILEO needs you!

Welcome to the USS Galileo, a Star Trek roleplay set in the year 2389. This is an all original character cast crewing the Nova-class science vessel Galileo, on her missions throughout the galax. We are looking for writers to help take up the mantle at any one of our open posts. We have dozens of open positions available for the picking, so make sure to check us out! This roleplay is for anyone who is interested in the Trek continuity, who enjoys writing and active participation in a roleplay. This roleplay uses the very intuitive Nova software to make writing between multiple people simple and fun. If you love Star Trek, roleplaying and writing, the Galileo is for you.

These are the voyages of the starship Galileo. Her mission, to explore strange, new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations.
To study spacial rifts, wormholes, and time fluxes. To develop and test the latest cutting-edge technologies.
To observe and catalog new life forms...even though they might be slimy and look kind of disgusting....
To boldly go where no research vessel has gone before!

Intro!

Hi there! This is Kris, your friendly person-who-set-this up. I'm going to get things started here by introducing myself. I hope you all will, too. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and having some good Trek characters to play off of.

If you don't know, my name is Kris. You can call me that, or lots of other things, I don't really care. I've been playing Jim here for a long time, and steadily since the 2009 film came out. (I started on the original LJ kinkmeme, when I noticed a serious DEARTH OF SHATNER that needed to be fixed.) You will notice I have a bunch of other Kirks floating about: [personal profile] vintage_fine, [personal profile] gold_ambition, [personal profile] well_notonly, [personal profile] wherenowoman, and [personal profile] behindblueyes are all me. And if you've seen me on LJ, it might have been as [livejournal.com profile] goldn_boy. For some reason I've never really gotten the hang of any of the others, and I'm not sure why that is.

Anyway, I made this place because I couldn't find anywhere besides treksixwords where Trek RP was happening. I love lone canon warrioring in pandfandom games just fine (and I've been lucky enough to find great people along the way) but sometimes I just want some Star Trek. I hope to find that here.

tl;dr: I'm Kris, and I love William Shatner. As a mod, I'm super laid back and all I want is to make a place where people are having fun, so don't hesitate to approach me about anything. As a player, I'm even more laid back and I would love to try adventures, angst, one-one-one, big sprawling universes, mirrorverse, reboot, TOS, reboot/TOS crossovers, fluff, crack, memes, gen, smut, episode AUs or post-scripts, really anything you can imagine, I'll try.

Feel free to use this comm to introduce yourselves, look for plots and players, and promote your own communities and roleplays! Welcome!

PLOTTING POST

Sometimes, we don't quite know what we want to throw up in a community. While it's always okay to post in the OOC comm looking for partners for a particular verse or project, you can also track this post and use it for plotting purposes.

Just comment with who you want to play and what you're looking for, and see what happens.

WANTED CHARACTERS

Who would you like to see playing here? Toss out those ideas: you may inspire someone to join or to make a new one!

CHARACTERS

  • Jan. 4th, 2012 at 9:50 AM
This post is to keep a roster of active characters. Please copy-paste the text in your own comment, fill in the missing data, and feel free to update/reply as things change! Feel free to include a name you wish to go by or a way to contact you, if you so desire.

This is by no means mandatory for joining/playing here. Just a point of reference for those who wish to use it.

CHARACTER NAME ([personal profile] username) | IF STAR TREK, SPECIFY CANON. IF NOT, SPECIFY FANDOM | CANON POINT IF APPLICABLE (note: it is not necessary to specify, if you want to play fast-and-loose and keep your options open) | AU IF APPLICABLE (If OC or non-Trek, a brief note about why they're here may be useful. If Trek, put genderswap/mirrorverse/whatever you changed here.)

Copy-paste for each character, and you're done. The first comment is an example of how it'll look.

TAGGING

  • Jan. 4th, 2012 at 9:49 AM
The big scary page of tagging.

Okay not really. This is really to HELP us. Because the thing is, I want to make this SO OPEN that there's a danger of running off people who want something really specific from their play. Wanting something specific is totally okay. That is what this tagging system is for. Please give me suggestions as to how to improve it. The community is set so members can make and apply tags, but you should know I will be monitoring them and I may change them if there seems to be a better organizing principle.

TAGS AND WHAT THEY ALL MEAN

When you make a post, you'll tag it. When you comment on a post, you'll also tag it because don't you want to keep track of ones you participated in?

I realize there's a lot here, and you may not want to deal with it all. THAT'S OKAY. This is for those who want to be more specific. But I will say that I've listed them in order of importance: if nothing else please tag your character/username. The others will help direct people to the play they want, but you're welcome to ignore them as long as you warn/cut for adult material.

What are they? )
